Introduction

When is it appropriate for workers to have tattoos and body piercings visible at work and when is it not? Are you the type of person with no piercings or tattoos and judge others if they do? Or are you the type of person who likes to know what is on the inside rather than assuming how they are by their looks? Managers judge their staff by their outer appearance, and devalue their skill sets, assuming they are unapproachable, and critic the atmosphere. Most people who get tattoos or piercings have a story to tell behind the art. Years later when they are trying to get a job they shouldn't be turned down based on a decision they made when they were younger.

Presentations

We were asked to make a proposal presentation introducing our topic. I learned new facts from each of my classmates I did not know about before. Each student showed their interest in the topic throughout the powerpoint.Even if they didn't know fully about their topic they all had good details and facts and good pictures to go along with. However, some students could have used more eye contact and could have been summarized their sides rather than reading a word from word from their slides.

During my presentation, I believe to have proven that I know what side I stand on. Although, I need to sound more confident when talking. I tend to get nervous standing in front of the class and start to talk fast and I feel like people couldn't understand what I was saying.

Body Piercings and Tattoos

Superiors judge their staff by their outer appearances, specifically tattoos and body piercings, because people devalue their skill sets, assuming they are unapproachable, and critic the atmosphere based solely on what is on the outside without actually knowing anything about the person. My question is why are employers offended of other employees vitiable tattoos and body piercings?Im interested in this topic because I myself have a nose piercings and 9 earrings and am always asked to take the following out at work because it is "Unprofessional". When talked to another employer at Lanier Islands what she thinks about having to cover up her semicolon on her wrist at work how she feels about it she says,"I feel like when I go to a work area and I see employees with tattoos and body piercings I dont feel like an outcast. You having a nose pierced doesn't define our company as trashy its not like you have a face-full of piercings on every inch of your face."
This image really opens eyes for the type of people who judge others off of appearance. You would never believe this person could be a very successful doctor but you automatically assume this person is a low life and not successful. The young generations see tattoos and body piercings as a style rather than the older generations see them as tacky and unclassy.

Stand By Me

In the music video Stand By Me by Playing for change,Mark Johnson uses elements of rhetoric to create an argument. First is invention which is finding the ideas or proof, Johnson needed to know in order to make the video he needed people to sing and play the song and to know the idea of the song. Next is Disposition which is the arrangement of ideas and arguments, the video is laid out as showing different people singing in different states and countries with different tools to make the music. Then Style is the language suitable to the subject or audience, the song appealed to me as no matter what race, gender, if you're filthy rice or dirt poor you still need someone to be by your side through thick or thin.Third is Memory which is rhetor as in he or she knows the subject matter, usually you would need to know the knowledge of the message but the message is pretty self explanatory as in you dont need to know anything you tend to just think who is that one person who would stand by you. Fourth and foremost is Knowledge created in this video is who is that one person you would want to tell everything too. And last but not least is Delivery which is actualization of a finished composition, as to how is the message delivered and Johnson deliveres the message of "to love" through a song with nice melody with catch phrases. This image is in the music video and I feel like it touches me because its just this man in his natural living environment. Throughout the whole video its like that. You can see different people in different countries, or states and how they live and how they use different materials to sing along with this song. You don't see them on stage infant of a lot of people you see them as if they were just living their every day normal life. Each clip of the video is someone new singing the same song giving off a message as no matter where or what you are you need someone on your side when you tumble and fall.

Audience Appeal

Karrisa and I say the thesis is clear and specific because we both put the same thesis and our evidence supports our thesis. The author uses examples throughout the story and backs them up with names and sources and book titles. For example he quotes,"Daniel Pink" and his book title. We relate to the story thinking college isn't for everyone and that if you want to be a doctor or a specific career you should go into college. He states college is expensive and we as the reader can relate because we college students know how expensive it has been so far.

College is a waste

Paragraph 1: thesis
"I believe higher education is broken."
Paragraph 4:
"....Roksa say that 36 percent of college students showed no improvement in critical thinking."
Paragraph 6:
"We are the disruptive generation creating the "free agent economy" built by entrepreneurs, creative, consultants, and small businesses envisioned by Daniel Park in his book, A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers Will Rule the Future."
Paragraph 8:
"A major function of college is to signal to potential employers that one is qualified to work."

The conclusion is in paragraph 10 stating that people who don't go to college are low lives with no strive to better themselves and further their education.Refutation is used in the 9th paragraph and he states how he encourages his peers to take the opportunity to take classes. He says if you want to go into the medical field you should go into school to learn more about it.

The author appeals to his audience as trying to tell them what's best for them. Throughout the article they say how they encourage people to consider other paths other than college. He gives examples with people in college and people who aren't. He states that if you aren't in college you can be just as smart as someone in college its what you do with being smart is what makes you successful.

Trump

All four video's tell us how crazy this whole trump case is going. All four videos gives us kind of of a annoyed attitude coming off. Tomi Lahrens says she just wishes the crocks to come forward so we can move on because they are going to get caught anyways. All videos gives us information about the case and who said what and how they are going to resolve the problem. They use first names and last names and when they say they heard something from somewhere they say where they got it and where they heard it from.
